Inflammation can occur in the body for different reasons in many areas. Two common types of inflammation are bursitis and gastritis. Bursitis occurs when bursa or fluid filled sacs form where friction would normally occur during movement. Gastritis occurs when the lining of the stomach is inflamed and can lead to an ulcer. There are different causes, symptoms, and treatments for these two types of inflammation. The cause of bursitis is mostly unknown. Symptoms involve tenderness, pain, and restricted range of motion. The normal treatment for bursitis is rest and inflammatory medicine. Several anti-inflammatory herbs that are helpful are boswellia, turmeric, and willow.
Gastritis is normally caused by a bacterial infection, but can be induced by food poisoning, trauma, stress, and illness. Abdominal pain accompanies gastritis and can be aided by vitamin C, gamma oryzanol supplements, N-acetyl cysteine, glutamine, arginine, beta-carotene, zinc, and vitamin A. Herbs such as licorice root and chamomile have also proven useful in relieving gastritis.
